COWAP is a coalition of wives of presidents and Vice presidents, both in Africa for the purpose of achieving peace, ensuring the girl child education, ending hunger & eradicating poverty in Africa.

Extreme Hunger in Africa

Record taken between in 2014 and 2016 showed that over 233 million people in sub-Saharan Africa were hungry/undernourished

Extreme Poverty in Afirca

501 million people, or 47 percent of the population of sub-Saharan Africa, live on less than $1.90 a day

Unending War

There are currently fifteen African countries involved in war, or are experiencing post-war conflict and tension

HIGH FEMALE ILLITERACY

In sub-Saharan Africa, if all women completed primary education, maternal deaths would be reduced by 70%, saving almost 50,000 lives [UNESCO]

African Women Summit For Peace & Development in Africa

This annual event will serve as a melting point of ideas towards achieving peace and development in Africa, anchoring on the 4 thematic points of COWAP. We will also be celebrating African Women who have worked hard in their localities to ensure that there is peace and development. The inaugural version of this summit will hold in Ethiopia and is proposed to be hosted by the AU (African Union) in April 2018.
